[leafnode-list] texpire failing to expire

In my config file I have

groupexpire = alt.folklore.* 5

but I'm seeing thousands of articles in alt.folklore.computers dating back
to May, I've tried running with -f but the articles still won't expire.

Looking at what's there they all seem to be part of a thread which started

news:40AFF210.F221298 at sonnic.net

with a subject of 

Subject: =?iso-8859-1?Q?=BFBlinkenlights=3F?=
