The fix worked, thanks for the help! :)

Do the filters block groups from downloading to the server, or do they
download to server and just not let the user download from server? (e.g.
/etc/leafnode/filters)

And last question - is there any way of increasing logging to a level
where we can see which IP subscribed to which group, and what they are
downloading?
