Yes.  Pragmatically, the resolution is to set 'timeout_long' to more than 
the default 7 days, in /etc/leafnode/config - or of course, post something 
to the quiet group  ;))

It isn't in the /etc/leafnode/config.example file that came with my 
Leafnode 2 but I seem to recall that timeout_long set to zero, turns off 
that feature altogether - in which case you might want to manually edit 
the contents of /var/spool/news/interesting.groups from time to time.
