I found the root problem. I post-process all news files, and I
didn't know about texpire's -f option. Now I added it (just the
hightlights):
bronger at wilson:~$ sudo su news -c "/usr/sbin/texpire -f"
comp.lang.python: 33885 articles deleted (0 duplicates), 12679 kept
comp.text.tex: 10361 articles deleted (0 duplicates), 4896 kept
de.comp.text.tex: 6120 articles deleted (0 duplicates), 3064 kept
oecher.talk: 7024 articles deleted (0 duplicates), 2342 kept
oecher.flohmarkt: 6768 articles deleted (0 duplicates), 3584 kept
gmane.emacs.devel: 14104 articles deleted (0 duplicates), 4064 kept
alt.os.linux.ubuntu: 22584 articles deleted (0 duplicates), 8729 kept
message.id/: 101607 articles deleted, 121014 kept
I guess it will be much calmer now. :-)
Tschö,
Torsten.
