i wonder what happened to my other followup. the problem has
disappeared, and it's not leafnode, but "slrn"s fault. using "tin",
everything works fine. "slrn" seems to have its own ideas of which
newsgroups it should subscribe to, especially when they are empty or
contain just one article.

your "README.html" should mention the directory setup needed for
local groups, eg. names, permissions and that one doesn't need an
"./.overview".
