Changes since 20040206a:
+ Feature: Supports PAM, based on a patch by Hynek Schlawack.
+ Bugfix: all fetchnews functions now read from the network with a
  timeout limit.
+ Bugfix: -M could only retrieve articles from the first server it had
  successfully connected to. Reported by Daniel Zwick. This bug has
  slept for a long time before being discovered recently.
+ Robustness: the supplementary group ID list is now cut short when
  dropping root privileges. We don't want root's groups (for instance
  shadow on SuSE Linux) in our context.
