G'day,
I've just installed leafnode for the first time, previously I've been using
nntpcache - but the news service of my new ISP is so bad, I'm losing articles
over spaces as small as 24 hours.... *sigh*
Anyway, I believe I had leafnode configured correctly, but if I run fetchnews
it fails to get a list, and says I can't post to the server - which is
incorrect:
# /usr/local/sbin/fetchnews
Groupinfo file too small, forcing active fetch.
ERROR: FETCHNEWS MUST REFETCH THE WHOLE ACTIVE FILE NEXT RUN.
REASON: fetching the active list from a server failed.
WARNING: found no server with posting permission!
syslog:
Dec 27 12:00:47 bluegum fetchnews[24241]: leafnode 1.9.46.rel: verbosity level is 0
Dec 27 12:00:47 bluegum fetchnews[24241]: Groupinfo file too small, forcing active fetch.
Dec 27 12:01:17 bluegum fetchnews[24241]: ERROR: FETCHNEWS MUST REFETCH THE WHOLE ACTIVE FILE NEXT RUN.
Dec 27 12:01:17 bluegum fetchnews[24241]: REASON: fetching the active list from a server failed.
Dec 27 12:01:17 bluegum fetchnews[24241]: WARNING: found no server with posting permission!
Dec 27 12:01:17 bluegum fetchnews[24241]: wrote active file with 0 lines
Dec 27 12:01:17 bluegum fetchnews[24241]: child has process ID 24242
There is no authorisation needed for this serer, so that bit (at least) must be correct.
Any ideas on how to proceed ?
thanks,
-kt
